Om Nom Nom

December 23, 2009 by Janice

om nom nomAha. I’m making fudge. That is all. No fancy art work, no fancy words.  We have more than enough out there. Just om nom nom…coming soon.

What you don’t draw your idea out too? Hah. A nice cube, I think.

Now, I must go melt chocolates, make some goodies and design the presentation.

Just here, playing elf. And letting ideas sift and sort.

It’s all part of the process, yes?

Some new things are percolating. I must give them some space to grow.

While I stir chocolate.

Oh yes.

A secret ingredient to making fine art.

Is knowing when to stop and when to start.

So for a while today.

I will stir chocolate,

Mince nutmeats,

Melt  butter.

The artist smiles…

Already into the textures and the colors.

Even when we play,

we are working.

The thing is to enjoy the work WHILE you are doing it.

My muse wants to make fudge today.

While I sift over some painting ideas.

So we will.

Let the ideas refine and work themselves out.

Yep.

That is all.

We are making fudge today.

    I love this line!

“A secret ingredient to making fine art.
Is knowing when to stop and when to start.”

Might just have to quote you on that one… ;-)

    Happy fudge making my friend!

    HI Joanna,
Very key thing to know. :)
Up to my elbows in it as we speak…

“…is knowing when to stop and when to start”.

Especially with watercolors…knowing when to stop.

Whenever I get to that point. I almost hear an imaginary voice inside my head…a police riot squad, yelling at me with a megaphone, with the SWAT team and the choppers in the background.

“Sir…step AWAY from the painting! Step AWAY from the painting!”

(Okay, maybe it’s not quite that dramatic, but you know what I mean).

I’ve never made fudge at Christmas. But one of my traditions is to buy myself one of those big Toblerones.

My Grandma used to always buy us chocolate, but she passed away. My Mom won’t buy it for us. (Against her principles). So I buy a big Toblerone, and wrap it up myself, and open it on Christmas morning.

Merry Christmas…and all the best for 2010!

    Hi PB!
Maple Walnut for you it is. It’s the caramel lover in you. Joyeux Noel. :)

    Friar,
I love Toblerone! My grandmother always gave us peppermint in some form or fashion, usually King Leo that came in a tin. Every time I have a peppermint I think of her. Smiling now at the thought. I like that you wrap tat gift to yourself.
And yes, “Step away from the paint!,” I have heard those bullhorns myself. LOL.
Merry Christmas, Friar and huge warm wishes for 2010!

Jan, giving space to grow – very wise! As we allow our conscious mind to rest from planning, doing, the seeds have time to take root. Fudge sounds yummy! Living vicariously through your culinary art. :-) Merry Christmas!

    Hi Karen,
Luckily most of this will go to the neighbors. I enjoy the making…and SOME of the eating. LOL.

    (note to self…please find pilates/yoga studio…)

Enjoy some space to grow over the holidays, dear one.
    Merry Christmas!
